Is payment taken when I submit the brief?
No. Submitting the brief only gives us the information needed to review your request.
Do you only work with businesses in South Africa?
No. We work remotely with service businesses in many countries. We are based in Cape Town, but location is not a limit on who we work with. Availability and terms can differ by region, and we confirm the suitable option after reviewing your brief.
What happens if rental is not the right fit?
We will explain that and, where appropriate, recommend a project-based route instead.
What does website rental mean?
It means we build and run the website for you for one monthly fee of R499/month, instead of you paying a large build cost up front and then hosting, updating and maintaining it yourself. The website and the work of keeping it working sit in the same arrangement.
What does R499/month include?
Need to update some text, swap an image or make another small content change? Two content update requests are included each month. On top of that you get the professional build, hosting, SSL and security, technical management, basic support, basic SEO setup, a site that works on a phone, and contact or WhatsApp options where they suit your business.
Is there a setup fee?
There can be. Setup: R0–R2,000 depending on the website and onboarding requirements. It depends on what has to be set up for your particular website rather than on which plan you choose, so plenty of customers pay nothing at this stage. If we quote you a setup fee, we will tell you what it covers before you agree to it.
How many content update requests do I get?
Need to update some text, swap an image or make another small content change? Two content update requests are included each month. New pages, major redesigns, new functionality and larger development work are quoted separately. It is a real limit rather than an open-ended one, and what counts as a request is set out in your agreement so there is no guesswork about whether something is included.
What counts as a larger change?
Anything that adds to the site rather than adjusting it: new pages, a significant redesign, new functionality, or development work of any size. We quote it and explain what it involves before you decide, rather than quietly absorbing it into the monthly fee.
Can I add technical SEO?
Yes. Website + Technical SEO is R999/month on top of the managed website. It covers the technical layer that decides whether search engines can find and read your pages: crawl and indexing checks, on-page technical improvements, internal linking and structured data upkeep. It is not a full SEO campaign, and it does not come with a promise about rankings.
Can I add Vellu AI?
Yes, and it is optional. Vellu AI is priced separately, and what it costs depends on how much you want it to handle. Tell us what would help most and we will tell you what it works out to. It is not included in the rental fee, and you can leave it out: the website works the same either way.
Can I use Vellu AI if my website is not hosted by Vellu Digital?
Yes. You do not need a Vellu Digital website to use it. If you already have a site, we can set it up on that instead.
What happens to my content?
Your content stays yours. If you provide your own photos, logos or copy for the website, you retain ownership of those materials. We use it to build and run your website, and that does not transfer ownership to us. Stock photos, fonts, icons and plugins come with their own licence terms, so anything with a restriction gets flagged before we use it. The detail is in our terms.
What about my domain?
Domain arrangements are set out in your agreement. We set it out plainly before you sign, so there is no ambiguity about who controls what.
Who owns the website under a rental plan?
Ownership and the handover position differ between the rental plan and a project build, and that difference is worth settling before you commit. It is set out in the written plan, and you will see exactly what you own, what you are licensing and what happens to the site before you sign rather than after.
What happens if I want to leave Website Rental?
Leaving should be a decision you can make without drama, so we would rather tell you now what to establish than surprise you later. Two things decide it: whether you can take the website with you, and the notice period that applies. Both are set out in your written plan before you sign, not discovered afterwards. If that flexibility is the main thing you need, a project build may suit you better.
Is there a minimum term?
Any minimum commitment is set out in your written plan before you sign, and we will explain what it means in practice rather than leaving you to find out from the small print. If a fixed term does not suit how your business runs, say so when you request a plan and we will tell you whether another route fits better.
